Lumecca is an FDA-approved dermatological procedure that uses intense pulsed light (IPL) to treat pigmented and vascular lesions. It is a fast and pain-free treatment where only after one session, patients can notice improvements in the tone and clarity of the skin. It is generally a safe and effective treatment for most skin types, but it’s important to consult with a qualified provider before undergoing the procedure to ensure it is right for you.
KEY BENEFITS:
It can improve uneven skin tone and reduce the appearance of sun damage, age spots, and other pigmentation irregularities.
It can reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, giving you smoother, more youthful-looking skin.
Unlike more invasive procedures, Lumecca requires little to no downtime. You can resume your normal activities immediately following the treatment.
It is a non-invasive procedure, meaning it does not require any incisions or injections. This makes it a safer and more comfortable option than many other skin rejuvenation treatments.
Most patients see results after just one treatment, although a series of treatments may be required for optimal results.
It can be used to treat a wide range of skin concerns, including pigmentation irregularities, fine lines and wrinkles, and even active acne.
It is safe and effective, and is cleared by the FDA for use in dermatological procedures.

WHAT AREAS CAN BE TREATED?
Lumecca can be applied on all parts of the body but is most commonly used for the areas that are regularly exposed to the sun, such as the face, neck, décolletage, legs, hands, and arms.
WHAT STEPS MUST BE TAKEN BEFORE THE PROCEDURE?
Avoid any tanning, including self-tanners or products with retinol. Keep away from exfoliating from the area to be treated and using Accutane, a drug usually used to treat severe and persistent acne problems.
WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT DURING AND AFTER THE TREATMENT?
During the treatment, you may feel a brief, bright flash of light, which can feel like a light, elastic sensation. It is normal to undergo some redness and a slight warming of the skin instantly after the treatment, but this generally subsides within an hour. You may also notice the darkening of pigmented spots over the next 24 to 48 hours. In the week following treatment, these lesions will flake off, resulting in a more even skin tone. If you receive treatment for vascular lesions, you may find the vein blanch and disappear or notice a change in the color of the vessel, which should dissipate within a few days.
HOW MANY SESSIONS ARE REQUIRED?
You may notice an improved complexion just after the first session. For better results, you may require several sessions, which can also depend on the severity of your skin damage, skin type, and type of treatment. After multiple procedures, your skin will improve most visibly after 1–2 weeks. You will require 1-2 weeks to see the final result for vascular treatments such as facial telangiectasias.
ARE THERE ANY SIDE EFFECTS?
Post-procedure, the majority of patients do not experience any side effects, but a mild skin reaction is possible. Should this occur, it will usually resolve within a few hours. We advise patients to avoid direct sunlight as most patients may experience increased sunlight sensitivity and tanning.
